At U.S. Century Bank, we believe in the power of community. One year ago, we brought that belief to life by partnering with Branches, a nonprofit that provides life-changing opportunities to hardworking families, to launch a transformative initiative supporting local entrepreneurs: the Micro-Business Incubator, E-Lab & BE ONE program. Today, as we wrap up Small Business Month, we are proud to celebrate the impact this partnership has made in Miami-Dade County over the past year.
A Year of Impact and Growth
Since the program’s launch, we've seen firsthand how access to the right tools and support can empower individuals, uplift families, and spark economic growth. With U.S. Century Bank’s support, Branches has provided crucial training across five core areas: entrepreneurship, business intelligence, digital transformation, business systems, and business development.
Together, we have issued 100 micro-grants to local entrepreneurs—helping small businesses turn their big dreams into reality. This initiative is more than funding; it’s about creating a sustainable path for long-term business success.
“We know that small businesses are the bedrock of our community,” said Luis de la Aguilera, Chairman, President, and CEO of U.S. Century Bank. “Supporting Branches’ Micro-Business Incubator program is an investment in local entrepreneurs that can increase the likelihood of success in owning a sustainable business and pave the way for a better future for themselves and our community.”
The Power of Micro-Businesses in Our Community
According to the Beacon Council, over 76% of businesses in Miami-Dade County are micro-businesses, typically employing four or fewer people. These are the businesses that shape neighborhoods, support families, and fuel local economies. Programs such as this ensure these businesses are equipped to adapt, grow, and thrive in an ever-changing marketplace.
“Thanks to U.S. Century Bank, Branches has been able to serve the needs of small businesses in South Florida and provide them with resources that help bridge the digital divide,” said Brent McLaughlin, President & CEO of Branches.
Voices of Impact
"I just want to say thank you to Branches for all that they are doing for me within my nonprofit—the resources, the amazing conversations, and the opportunity to be in a room with like-minded people. And I also want to thank U.S. Century Bank for being a proud partner and making this initiative possible." Wilda Jean, Founder of Blooming Moms Foundations. Watch Wilda Jean's video here.
"Branches is one of the biggest hidden gems I’ve ever encountered. They’ve helped me with leadership, mentorship, and given me the right resources to grow my business. And the most incredible part? It’s a free community that welcomes everyone. A huge thank you to U.S. Century Bank for the support you’ve given to this community.” Andres Diaz, The Creative Strategist.
